A child’s citizenship, a family’s future
What happens to education and mobility while a child’s citizenship application is pending?
What the documents show
In 2024, the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights urged Cyprus to prevent unnecessary delays or rejections for northern-resident Turkish Cypriot children of mixed marriages and establish clear processing timelines (paragraph 24(b)). This is a treaty-body recommendation, not an individual citizenship decision.
What the evidence still needs to answer
What are the waiting times and outcomes by application year, and which education opportunities were lost while waiting?
