Corroborated

This is the highest status Cyprus Rights may assign on its own authority. It meets the independent-source thresholds set out in Cyprus Rights' editorial doctrine.

Facts

Section 16 of the General Healthcare System Law, N.89(I)/2001 (consolidated text), sets the categories of person eligible to be a GESY beneficiary — citizens of the Republic, certain Union citizens, certain third-country nationals, recognised refugees and persons with subsidiary protection, and their family members — and, for each, conditions eligibility on ordinary residence in the areas controlled by the Government of the Republic. A separate subsection extends beneficiary status to citizens of the Republic ordinarily resident in the Sovereign Base Areas, and to their family members ordinarily resident in either the government-controlled areas or the Sovereign Base Areas.
