Cyprus RightsThe Republic of Cyprus claims the whole island, and owes every right that claim implies to every Cypriot. Cyprus Rights documents where that duty goes unmet for Turkish Cypriots — with sources.

PROPERTY ADMINISTRATION

Electronic payment becomes mandatory for rents on Turkish Cypriot properties

From 1 July 2026, rents relating to immovable property in the Republic must be paid and collected electronically; cash is no longer accepted at Service counters.

A Republic of Cyprus notice states that from 1 July 2026 rent relating to immovable property in the Republic must be paid and collected exclusively through bank transfer, card payment or another recognised electronic method. The notice refers to Article 48A of Law 4/1978, as amended by Law 243(I)/2025, and says cash is no longer accepted at Service counters.1

The notice changes the payment channel only. It does not establish that rent is credited to individual owners, quantify collection or explain whether property will be released or returned.1
