Commission report says Cyprus has no nationwide system to track pension entitlements

The 2026 Cyprus Country Report recorded 837 pension funds in September 2024 and pillar-two assets equal to 13.5% of GDP in December 2024.

The European Commission's 2026 Country Report on Cyprus was published on 3 June 2026. It stated that Cyprus does not operate a formal nationwide pension tracking system that consolidates information on all public and private pension sources in one place.1

The report said that Cyprus had 837 pension funds in September 2024. It also recorded pillar-two pension-fund assets of about €4.6 billion, equal to 13.5% of GDP, in December 2024, and described participation in those schemes as largely confined to employees of large or unionised companies.1
